Parrots

Every pet needs care, attention and a good attitude of its master. Parrots are no exception but there are many peculiarities of taking care. First of all a person should make his choice concerning breed of a parrot. If you don`t have experience in keeping parrots it`s better to acquire shell parakeets as they are undemanding in contrast to big parrots.

The first thing that you need to do is buying a cage for a parrot. Give preference to a rectangular cage with a flat top. The rest types of cages are much more difficult to clean. Every cage should contain daily essentials: bird bath, perch, pull-out tray, feeder and mirror at your desire. Quantity of perches and their length depend on the size of a parrot`s house. A ring placed at the top of the cage should be fixed to the upper part of a grate. Most importantly, a master should ensure that a cage is clean: a bird bath and feeder must be washed daily whereas perches and cage should be cleaned at least once a month.

As for feeding your feathered fosterling will be cheerful if you provide correct and healthy eating. Staple food of parrots is grains feed. Parrots are usually fed with millet or oats. Besides, ration of parrots must include various kinds of greenery. For example, you can feed a parrot with leaves of dandelion, John`s wort, ribwort and even dill.

Parakeets love bathing that`s why they`ll be glad if you put a special container with water but don`t bath them against their will as parrots can fall ill in consequence of such unnecessary care. Frequently parrots have a desire to gnaw something. Twigs of alder, poplar or rowan tree should be always present in their cage. Sharpening of beak is very necessary for them otherwise tip of beak will grow and a parrot may feel discomfort while eating.

Taking care of big parrots has its peculiarities. Their cage should be made of all-ceramic material and be spacious in order a parrot could spread wings. Perches should be made of apple-tree, oak or beech. Big parrots don't stand when air temperature in a house lower than 5 degrees above zero or higher than 30 degrees. You should care of parrots in a peaceful atmosphere, don`t make sudden movements. If home environment is calm your parakeet will soon get used to a master and not behave aggressively.
